This Project Involved:
As part of the Early Works Program, NC-Matcon JV (JV between the Squamish Nation and Matcon) has been retained to complete a large-scale hazardous materials abatement, demolition and site remediation program at the site involving:
- Preparation of a site specific HASP & Environmental Protection Plan;
- Mobilization of all heavy equipment/supplies to the site via barge;
- Development of Exposure Control Plans to address lead/asbestos contaminated materials;
- Lead and asbestos abatement and removal of hazardous liquids/items throughout site
- Demolition and removal of over 75 structures and features throughout site, with all debris and scrap steel barged off-site for disposal;
- Demolition of several gas, diesel & propane storage tanks and associated infrastructure
- Demolish and Crush over 15,000 M3 of concrete to 3” minus for re-use onsite. 5000m3 of concrete was hauled to the existing landfill for capping
- Removal of 9 concrete docks within tidal zone (up to 1500m3) under direction from environmental monitoring
